After Winning 170 Million

The Storm After a Windfall

Liu Tianyu, a deliveryman, saw his life turned upside down by a sudden 170-million-yuan lottery win. Before the euphoria of becoming rich overnight could fade, harsh reality came crashing down: neighbors' suspicions turned into malicious rumors, the platform's exploitation made competition among fellow couriers brutal, and what broke his heart most was that, crushed by the burdens of life, his wife Zhang Lan left with their son, Xiaoyu. Wealth brought no happiness. Instead, it drew deadly attention. In a sudden attack, he was left gravely wounded beside a trash heap, and the winning ticket was stolen.

On the brink of death, he was rescued by Wang the Lame, a tricycle driver struggling at the bottom of society like himself, and taken to a shabby shack. As his wounds were treated and the gauze was peeled back, a ferocious coiling-dragon tattoo on his chest was unexpectedly revealed, a mark he could not remember and that seemed to conceal a tremendous secret. It abruptly swept him from a life of struggle at society's lowest rung into a vast whirlpool engulfing the whole city.

Meanwhile, experienced investigator Lu Chen was pursuing a bizarre case. He discovered that the attack on Liu Tianyu had not been an accident, and that a vast, deeply concealed power seemed to be involved. An invisible “web” was obstructing the investigation, and Liu Tianyu, a deliveryman of mysterious identity whose life or death was unknown, became the only possible breakthrough in Lu Chen's search for the truth.

Liu Tianyu crawled back from death's door, his memories shattered. Around him gathered ordinary people, all crushed by life's burdens but still holding on to a glimmer of hope: Aunt Wang, sharp-tongued but kind-hearted; Sister Zhao, the cleaner who silently watched over others; Zhang, the courier who worked himself to the bone to pay his younger sister's tuition; and the one clutching a bloodstained candy ball in the welfare home's isolation room
