The modern office drone Su Li dies suddenly, whether from overwork or an accident. When she wakes up, she discovers she has become Su Li, the newly taken secondary consort of Fourth Prince Yinzhen, on her wedding night. Faced with the fourth prince’s icy expression, she frantically complains to herself while her survival instincts go into overdrive: “OMG! Yongzheng! He’s real! A workaholic who’ll work himself to death!”
Her painful daily struggle to learn the rules comes with inner monologues like “This is harder to deal with than KPIs!” and a string of hilarious misunderstandings, such as calling morning greetings “clocking in” and mistaking rewards for “year-end bonuses.” She has her first encounters with the primary consort, Ula-Nara, and Lady Li, among others. The female lead often diffuses their attacks by refusing to play by the rules, leaving them unable to land a punch.
She discovers that the Fourth Prince’s household has a “24/7 work culture” and tries to make small improvements using modern management ideas, like streamlining processes and boosting efficiency. To her surprise, she catches the fourth prince’s attention. Her inner monologue: “Boss, I was just trying to slack off!”
She befriends the thirteenth prince, Yinxiang, and becomes a disruptive force in the household.
(I originally wanted to write a fluffy romance, but the story veered off course a bit later, hahaha. Curious readers can look forward to it.)
After reading the first three chapters, I felt that it was inexplicable, like a horror novel, and it had something to do with Qing Chuan.
