The orthodox and unorthodox factions have always been locked in a fight to the death, and their clashes often erupt into violence. Eleven years ago, a trivial incident sparked a great battle between good and evil. The orthodox side, led by then martial arts alliance chief Shi Tianwei, brought together the five major orthodox sects: the Xuanqing Sect, Shaolin, Flying Sword Sect, Myriad Blossoms Sect, and Dragon Clan. They fought for three days and three nights in Mingyou Valley against the three major unorthodox factions, led by Saint King Xia Chu: the Sacred Sect, Tang Clan, and Ten Thousand Poisons Cult.
Both sides suffered such heavy casualties that they had no choice but to cease hostilities. Saint King Xia Chu and martial arts alliance chief Shi Tianwei agreed to settle their rivalry in a decisive battle at Mingyou Valley one year later. And so the great battle was left unresolved.
