Poetry and Rain on the Operating Table

[Older woman × younger woman | A broken, sensitive soul (introvert) × a seemingly aloof but actually tender-hearted protector (extrovert) | Student × teacher | Both become formidable later]

This is not the usual top-student-and-underachiever setup.

In her parents’ eyes, Shen Lingyu is someone with “no hope.” She has long since grown used to being given up on. All her family’s expectations have been transferred to her younger brother. Like a pearl covered in dust, she wanders alone in the shadows of self-doubt. Then, during an ordinary doctor’s visit, she meets Wu Shiling, the medical school’s universally acknowledged ice queen: calm, professional, and radiating an aura that warns others to keep their distance.

When this ordinary, almost clumsy “rookie” blunders into the territory of an experienced “hunter” who can see right through people, the gears of fate begin to turn. Wu Shiling’s perceptive eyes see not only the problem in Shen Lingyu’s mouth, but also the silent cry for help deep in her soul.

“Parents should let their children take paths they themselves never walked.”

“Look at your body, your hair... They’re alive, and so is the blood rushing through you. You’re a real person!” Wu Shiling’s words cut with the precision of a scalpel, slicing through the cocoon wrapped around Shen Lingyu.

I’m your “personal doctor.” When I grow up, I can be my own doctor too!
