Doomsday Escape: A Struggle for Life and Death

No System, not a transmigration or rebirth story, and no saintly protagonist. On a stormy night, I lick rainwater that tastes of rust to stave off hunger in a sewer. Three days ago, I saw a zombie rip open an armored vehicle with its bare hands. The army was wiped out in an instant. Now I’m almost out of insulin. I risk climbing to the surface to look for medicine, only to be surrounded by a horde of zombies. Just as despair sets in, a mysterious woman drops from the sky, sparks of electricity dancing at her fingertips as they tear through the darkness. She gives me a cold look. “Want to live? Keep up.” I stumble back to the sewer, listening to the terrifying howls aboveground. I don’t dare take a single step outside.
