In the highly developed and information-exploded "New Kyoto" urban area, physical reality and digital virtuality are deeply entangled. Underneath the glossy, efficiency-oriented social order, there are hidden "undercurrents" that cannot be captured by the mainstream information flow—that is, the urban legends of the future. These legends are not ancient ghost stories, but modern myths bred by the hacker subculture, AI malfunctions, cyborg body rejection, corporate conspiracies, data ghosts, and human fear of the unknown in technology. The protagonist is accidentally involved in the "Neon Ghost" incident, a core legend, and discovers that these legends are not only stories, but more likely a "collective subconscious virus" that distorts reality, a tool for some kind of force to manipulate public opinion, or even a real portal to anomalies that is masked by technology.
