The domineering CEO and his childhood sweetheart bring the childless heroine of an angst novel to an orphanage to adopt a child.
Every child rushes toward the childhood sweetheart. "New Mommy, pick me! Pick me!"
The comments scroll by at a furious pace.
"She can't have children of her own, and even the kids at the orphanage don't want her. The angst heroine has it so rough, humiliated by her husband and his childhood sweetheart working together!"
"The childhood sweetheart has totally won. The CEO dotes on her, and the orphans are fighting to call her Mom, while the heroine is just a prop."
"There's not enough angst! Make the heroine suffer more! Better yet, have her burst into tears right there. Then the CEO can remember it later, making the chase-your-wife-to-the-crematorium arc hit even harder!"
I glared at the comments, so angry that I hopped three feet into the air on my little legs and landed right in front of the ignored heroine.
I tugged on her sleeve. "Hey, girl, can you make iron-pot stew?"
The heroine froze. "I-I can."
My eyes lit up.
"Great! That's exactly what I like. I'm going with you!"
