When they first met during the plum rains, Wen Tang was celebrating her birthday alone in a convenience store. There she met the boy Jiang Xubai. She thought he was a cold-hearted delinquent, but he turned out to be a gentle puppy. The lighter that lit Wen Tang’s birthday candle also kindled the hearts of two people.

When they meet again

“You’re underage. You shouldn’t be in a place like this.”

“Next time, you can tell me the story.”

“Come on, I’ll carry you.”

The bet they fulfilled in front of the whole school on New Year’s Day became the key to unlocking every girl’s secret hopes.

Five years later

Jiang Xubai’s love for Wen Tang remains unchanged.

He slowly sinks to one knee and gently rests his face against her wrist. “It must hurt.” His voice is soft, trembling with restrained emotion, almost melting into the moonlight. “From now on, let me share half of every pain you suffer, okay?”

Jiang Xubai stubs out his cigarette. The blade’s chill passes through his fingertips. He closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, then slowly opens them and gently presses the blade against his wrist, in the same place as Wen Tang’s scar.
