Early on, Bo Yu takes the more dominant role (the former crown prince); later, Xuanyuan Chen (the royal uncle) takes it. Synopsis: Because of their obsessions, everyone (the protagonists Bo Yu, Xuanyuan Chen, Wu Ergen, Liang Qing, Ying, Yuan Jing, and others) is trapped in a cycle of rebirth.
In their previous lives, Bo Yu was about to marry Wu Ergen as promised when he learned that Xuanyuan Chen had fallen ill. He broke off the engagement and returned to the capital to save him. But while saving Xuanyuan Chen, they both died from the poison of a Gu worm. In this life, they only want to protect the people they care about. Things don't go as planned, though, and the story remains full of twists and turns. Faked deaths, exploitation, and coercive love keep happening. Bo Yu fakes his death because of Xuanyuan Chen's immature love, and Yuan Jing fakes his death to foil a conspiracy. Some of them are content if the person they love simply turns around to look at them, while others want more. (Wu Ergen and Liang Qing remember their previous lives; the others do not.) Everyone is smart, and there are no stupid plotlines. Warnings are provided for the really angsty parts, but not for the milder angst, since a little heartbreak is good for the soul. You can check the title for hints. Overall, it goes from angst to sweetness, back to angst, then back to sweetness.
It has a happy ending, so read without worry. I originally wanted to write a tragic ending because I wanted to write an angst-filled story, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. They haven't had an easy journey. There are some abstract parts, so please don't be harsh if they're not to your taste. Love you all!
