When a Tigress Mom Meets Her Big White Bunny of a Son

[Parenting] [Teenage Rebellion] [Parent-Child Relationships] [Inspirational Growth] [Realistic Fiction] [Light Comedy] [Heartwarming and Healing]

Lin Lan always thought she was raising a gentle, obedient “Big White Rabbit” of a son, Chen Mo, until he started middle school. Suddenly, that “rabbit” had learned to kick up a fuss. The child who once did everything she said now stared blankly at his books but became so obsessed with drawing that he forgot to eat or sleep. He kept track of his phone and TV time more precisely than an alarm clock, yet dragged his feet whenever it came to washing up or making his bed. His promised morning jog was always “next time, for sure,” while his talent for talking back improved by leaps and bounds.

As a “tigress mom” juggling work and family, Lin Lan’s patience gradually crumbled under Chen Mo’s “rebellion.” Shouting became routine, and mother and son fought over homework, paintbrushes, and dirty socks until the whole house was in chaos. She was determined to push her son onto the narrow path to a top high school, but she couldn’t understand the vibrant colors dancing across his drawing paper. She thought she was struggling to pull him forward, only to realize they had both become trapped in a whirlpool of “love and control,” battered and bruised.

When the “tigress’s” claws meet the “Big White Rabbit’s” stubbornness, is this chaotic teenage “war” really caused by a mother’s anxiety, or is it a son crying out as he grows up? Amid the daily arguments and exhaustion, can Lin Lan let go of her “tiger mom” authority and hear the feelings behind her child’s drawings? And can Chen Mo find his own path to growing up amid his mother’s “tiger roars”?
