I Met a Rich Heir, and Somehow I’m the Substitute. Who Can Relate?

Lin Xi never imagined her miserable first days in a big city would begin with someone saying she looked just like another woman. She nearly gets hit by a Bentley, only for the owner, Jiang Yichen, to drag her into an absurd bargain.

“Be my assistant. Room and board included, monthly salary of eight thousand.” His gaze lingers on her face so long that it makes her uneasy.

Only later does she learn that her ordinary face bears a striking resemblance to Jiang Yichen’s unforgettable ex-girlfriend. He makes her wear dresses that aren’t hers, takes her to unfamiliar restaurants, and even searches her for the shadow of someone else. She is his “substitute,” a way to fill a void and shield himself from the pain of heartbreak.

When wealthy heiress Bai Ruoxi appears, full of hostility, and shoves a check at her to make her leave, saying, “Don’t think you can take Su Man’s place just because you look like her,” Lin Xi finally comes to her senses. Then Su Man, the woman she has been standing in for, suddenly returns to the country and smiles, saying, “I’m back.” This entanglement, born of selfishness, should have ended long ago.

But when Lin Xi turns away, the man who has always been so cold turns red-eyed and grabs her in a moment of desperation. “Lin Xi, don’t go.”

He thought he loved the shadow in his memories. Yet day after day, he finds himself shaken by the stubbornness in her eyes, the warmth of her palm, and the words, “I’m not Su Man.”

It turns out that from the very beginning, it wasn’t her similar features that captured his heart. It was the down-to-earth, genuine person only Lin Xi could be.

With a misunderstanding over a substitute and two souls struggling to survive in the city, can they finally shed their disguises and discover what they truly feel?
