A Gambler’s Descent into the Abyss

This is the tearful confession of a former company employee. He once had a stable life, but the numbing belief that “a little gambling is harmless” led him from casual card games into the abyss of addiction. Mahjong, Three-Card Poker, Bullfight, online loan apps… Fleeting thrills devoured his reason. He lost his entire salary and drained his savings, then sank into more than 200,000 yuan in online loan debt. The crushing debt eventually shattered his family: his wife left in despair, he missed even his son’s birthday while sitting at the gambling table, and a court judgment left him a lonely soul burdened with enormous debt.

Now he works as a delivery rider, designated driver, and ride-hailing driver, struggling to atone from behind the wheel. Every time he delivers warmth to someone else’s family, it reminds him of the ordinary happiness he gambled away with his own hands. Drawing on firsthand experience, this story tears away gambling’s “harmless fun” disguise and lays bare its cold truth: it destroys families and devours souls. It is a living warning: the end of the gambling table is desolation. When the abyss gazes back, turn and walk away! Protect the priceless, ordinary warmth in your hands. It is a treasure no wager can ever win back.
