The Red Tide resistance forces fight with everything they have at Hope’s End to hold back the Epsilon Army, which has nearly conquered the entire planet. In the end, Yun Ru, Rashidi, and a host of other scientists and engineers repair the Paradox Engine. Drawing on the Theory of Red Tide left behind by Siegfried, they overload the engine’s temporal systems, creating a time barrier that can both freeze enemies in time and block the Babel Tower’s mind control. It preserves the last refuge of humanity’s free will. But this is not the only surprise the Theory of Red Tide has in store. As the scientists study it in greater depth, they create a spacetime portal to an unknown destination. After a squad of Sniper robots is sent through to scout, intelligence gathered by the robots reveals that the other side of the portal is nowhere known to this world…
