I Raise Her in the Morgue

After my girlfriend died, her reflection became trapped in a sink at the funeral home. For three years, I fed the writhing patch of black shadow with my blood every night, until my flirtatious coworker slapped a wedding invitation against my face. “You should’ve forgotten that dead girlfriend of yours long ago!”

The instant I tore the invitation to shreds, a rotten hand shot out of the pool of blood and grabbed for her. A strawberry hair tie I’d given my girlfriend was caught beneath its fingernails.

My dead wife had returned from the reflection, reeking of stagnant water and seething with resentment. The mirrors in the funeral home began devouring people, and the corpses in the morgue grinned at me. And all of this was somehow connected to a terrifying world called “the Eroding Realm”...

To save her, I, a humble cosmetic surgeon, had no choice but to grip my bloodstained scalpel and enter the abyssal labyrinth formed by the reflections of the dead.
