Meeting is luck,
parting is a calamity.
Reuniting is fate,
not having each other is a calamity.
Falling in love is passion,
staying together is a calamity.
The Calamity Card tells the strange tale of Lu Dianchuan, an eleven-year-old boy later given the name Xiao Liu by Elder Deng. He wakes in the deserted Lu Family Village and wanders to Yueling City with a mysterious bundle wrapped in red silk. A sudden rainstorm brings him together by chance with Xiao Qin, a newborn girl from the Xiao family, binding their fates together. Their destinies are quietly entwined.
As turmoil brews in Yueling City, the Xiao family is sealed off because of the "celestial omen" surrounding Xiao Qin, while the Ice Moon Palace and the Azure Wolf Sacred Ground compete in secret. Xiao Liu grows amid the danger. As the Ice Moon Palace's "Frost Annihilation" and "Ice Ghost" squads launch successive attacks and the Xiao family falls into internal strife, Xiao Liu is forced into the conflict between multiple factions. He must master the increasingly powerful Heavenly Soul within him while protecting his bond with Xiao Qin, and find the righteous path between good and evil: "survive, and make sure there is never another Lu Family Village."
Built on soul-card cultivation and factional conflict, and brought to life by a boy's coming of age and the bonds of fate, this work explores cause and effect and the boundary between good and evil. Its ever-rising suspense unfolds into a fantastical and turbulent portrait of the martial world.
