After Getting Too Deep into Character, I Recharged Through Variety Shows

After filming two tragedies back-to-back, award-winning actress Lin Wan is sent by her agent to an SS+ variety show to unwind.

She arrives on a tropical island only to discover the production crew’s clever trap: shipping and rent have swallowed two-thirds of their starting funds.

When it’s time to choose rooms, she picks the top floor, only to find retired film emperor Xu Chenzhou blowing smoke rings on the terrace.

“Can’t get out of character?” He flicks away his cigarette ash. “Try turning the tragedy into a comedy.”

On opening day, hardly anyone shows up. Lin Wan suddenly improvises, pretending to be a diner whose boyfriend stood her up.

“This seafood tower is on me!” She slaps down her last bit of cash. “Let’s celebrate being single!”

That night, #LinWanGoesWildOnVarietyShow# shoots to the top of the trending list, and the restaurant is fully booked for three months.
