On their wedding anniversary, Su Wan’s fantasies are shattered by Fu Chengye’s divorce papers: “She’s back. It’s time for you to leave.” The former stand-in walks away with nothing, only to collapse and be rushed to the hospital. [Ding! A pregnant woman on the brink of death detected. Bound to the Merit-Healer System!] Carrying twins, she drifts to a small town in the south, where she saves a dog with silver needles and brings people back from the brink with her miraculous hands. Before long, word of the “miracle doctor” spreads.
Then, on a stormy night, labor strikes without warning. In a cave deep in the mountains, she gives birth in a pool of blood! When Fu Chengye kicks down the door, all he sees is this: premature twins mewling like kittens in scraps of cloth; Su Wan beneath them, still stained with blood, hatred burning like poison in her eyes; and a mysterious elder pointing a silver needle at his throat. “Take one more step and I’ll cripple you with the Suppression Needle!” He drops to his knees on the cold cave floor and cries out in remorse, “Please, drink the medicine… I’ll stay far away…” A quaint black needle at Su Wan’s neck glimmers faintly. [The Xuanhu Sect’s sacred relic, the Black Soul Needle, has chosen its master!] [The source of the Merit System is revealed: an ancient medical inheritance!]
