Unburnt Pill Bones is an epic tale of an ordinary man forging his flesh and blood into a medicinal cauldron and taking revenge on the entire bloodsucking world of cultivation.
Han Shu is born into despair. He is a "spirit medicine human" kept in captivity by a cultivation clan, an animal confined in a dark room and pierced through his blood vessels twelve times a day with sharp tools, all to squeeze out the faint medicinal blood within him. His blood flows like a stream, becoming a catalyst for the pills used by the clan's cultivators to break through their realms with greater power. His peers have become heaps of white bones, and in the depths of the medicinal garden, deathly energy is the only thing that grows. But the clan elders never imagined that a storm capable of toppling the heavens was brewing inside this numb, medicine-vat body.
Unable to access orthodox cultivation techniques, he uses blood as ink and pain as his brush, tasting every kind of poisonous herb in the searing clarity of pain and sampling the dregs of pill furnaces. Deadly toxins eat through his organs, yet also carve his sinews, bones, flesh, and blood like knives. He locks the intangible "deathly energy" and hundreds of potent medicinal poisons deep within his marrow, tempering his broken body into a "living pill cauldron" the immortal world has never recorded.
After ten years in hiding, an opportunity arrives. Three great immortal sects join forces to inspect the medicinal garden in a grand display of authority. Elder Li Mushan covets a trace of special vitality hidden in Han Shu's blood and personally demands the "supreme-grade spirit-root grass" that can help him break through his bottleneck. At that moment, chains clink. The medicine human bows his head and, with blood-soaked hands, presents a spirit plant imbued with the deadly poison in his marrow, yet still glowing with spiritual light. No one knows that this immortal herb has been nurtured by the despair and deaths of hundreds of medicine humans. Its poison has long since shed every trace of earthly form, becoming impossible to detect, without shape or substance.
Three months later, Elder Li Mushan dies, and in his cave dwelling, where immortal energy once soared to the heavens, nothing remains but a seven
