The Yellow River's Lost Orphan

When the Yellow River flood swept my people away, I caught hold of a cold dragon bone.

Its patterns pierced my flesh, and from then on, time stood still within me.

I watched my beloved Lei wither from black fever. I watched Yu the Great spend ten years taming the floods, only to become another dragon bone in the end.

At a market in Shang, a bronze mirror reflected my youthful face and aged eyes. The taotie patterns in the mirror roared their questions at the Way of Heaven.

As the morning bells of Western Zhou rang, I held the jade pendant marked with the River Map against my chest and finally understood:

What they call eternity is nothing more than a long sentence of watching every glory turn to dust.
