I'm Really Not a Sniper God!

[One heroine] [Slow-paced] [Not a power fantasy] [Military life in a hegemonic nation] [Focus on modern warfare]

War is a merciless grinder of flesh and blood, but he is just an ordinary man caught up in the fighting, with a dream of becoming a master of fried noodles.

The heavy sniper rifle in his hands was meant, in his mind, to defend his homeland and protect peace. Instead, he has become the executioner he fears most, and he can’t get enough of it.

Every bullet he fires represents evil, the perpetuation of global hegemony, the end of a living soul, and how deeply he has sunk.

In this world of endless yellow sand, evils that turn everything he knows upside down are commonplace. Surrounded by them, he can only become a beast of desire himself, a hound of the ruling class. He comes to understand the cruelty of reality: there is no humanity, no authority, no equality. The only thing that matters is profit.

Might as well fight for profit, then. That is the truth of the world, and the end point of being human.

Is the target in his scope really the villain who oppresses the people, as the newspapers claim, or just an ordinary soldier? Is there any difference between him and himself? Who is the one protecting world peace?

He no longer wants to know. The more he learns, the more guilt he carries.

“Target eliminated. That makes 335. My goal is 500.”
