Li Yan's Words

Essays, travelogues, and reflections. An essay is like a winding path leading deep into the soul. It follows no fixed rules and knows no restraints. It may ring like the lingering notes of an ancient zither, clear and far-reaching, or twist naturally like the gnarled branches of an old tree. It is bound neither by the shackles of meter nor the constraints of plot. A travelogue is a traveler's mark. It begins with the journey on foot and takes shape in the stirrings of the heart. As the ancients said, "Read ten thousand books and travel ten thousand miles." Reflections are sparks of thought, ripples that rise unexpectedly on the lake of the mind.
