Detective Conan: The Butterfly and the Hurricane

Read with caution: Ran Mouri x Gin

The year Ran Mouri turned eighteen, Shinichi Kudo became Conan Edogawa.

Everyone thought she was an angel kept in the dark: kind, innocent, and meant to be protected from the shadows. No one knew that at fifteen, she had glimpsed the Book of the World and seen her “original” fate: waiting for someone who had kept the truth from her for five years, then smiling and forgiving him at the end.

Ran Mouri refused to accept it.

A woman called Lan lived in her mind: a fragment of the world's consciousness that fell into her when it shattered. Lan taught her how to kill, hack computers, disguise herself, and hide. In three years, she turned Ran from someone who needed protection into someone who kept her eyes open in the shadows and took control of her own life.

When Conan moved into her home, thinking he was protecting an angel, he had no idea that the angel had already broken her overly docile wings. In a darker place, a man codenamed GIN watched her, like a hunter surveying his hunting ground.

That butterfly was about to set off a hurricane powerful enough to overturn the entire organization.

Ran Mouri faced the wind and walked willingly into the darkness. In America, she built a force of her own, Night Hawk, and moved forward alongside the silver-haired man.

She would wait for no one anymore. She would go to him herself.
