A Corpse Mutation in Youzhou: Dynasty of the Living Dead

In the final years of the Dayuan Dynasty, Youzhou City was shrouded in ill omen. A strange affliction was spreading: by day, its victims seemed like ordinary people, but after nightfall they became walking corpses with wind-slicing claws and fangs, ravenous for blood! The authorities imposed a harsh lockdown, yet could not stop the disaster from spreading. Youzhou was turning into a realm of ghosts.

Chen Xuan, a high-ranking Daoist priest from Longhu Mountain nearing thirty, had been transported into this body from another world. Sent by his temple, he set out with his apprentice to lend aid. He arrived bearing the talismanic arts of the Zhengyi ancestral court, but what he found surpassed all expectations: Taiping Temple had fallen into ruin, like a haunted wasteland, while a murderous aura soared above the streets and alleys. Nighttime corpses swarmed around homes like locusts, and the markets lay silent by day. The authorities' official documents were vague, the provincial commissioner’s envoys evasive. Only fragments of the governor’s seal glimmered coldly amid heaps of corpses.
