Axiu, a girl from a water town in the south of the Yangtze River, has been hearing the whispers of "story elves" attached to old objects since she was a child. These spirits are the spirits of folklore, languishing in oblivion. In order to prevent the stories from disappearing, Axiu took the carved wooden box left by her grandmother and embarked on a journey to collect folk tales. From a hazy town to an ancient road filled with yellow sand, she met the white snake who turned into a mortal, the spirit of Dong Yong guarding the locust tree, and the jade rabbit making medicine under the moon... Each story hides the joys and sorrows of the world as well as wisdom and philosophy. While Axiu was collecting stories, she also gradually uncovered the mystery of her life experience - it turned out that her family had guarded the secrets of the story elves for generations, and a dark force trying to completely annihilate the legend was quietly approaching... This is a story about inheritance, warmth and courage. In each fantasy or tender folk tale, the light and shadow of human nature are revealed.
