The middle piece "The Great Sage Wants to Solve the Golden Hoop Curse" tells the story of Sun Wukong who mistakenly took the Golden Hoop Curse and then tried to lift it. Sun Wukong was rescued from the foot of Wuzhi Mountain by Tang Sanzang who was traveling to the west to obtain Buddhist scriptures. He then worshiped Sanzang as his teacher and protected him on his journey to the west. When they reached Langtou Mountain, Monk Tang went to the temple to visit the abbot. When Wukong was drinking alone under the cliff, a sparkling gold hoop was put on his head by a sweet-talking girl. As soon as the girl recited the mantra, the great sage's head hurt. The great sage opened his eyes and saw that it was a female monster. The great sage was furious and beat the banshee to death with a stick, and then embarked on the difficult road of finding a way to lift the golden hoop curse.
