Mouri Yu is an original character and the heroine of the derivative fanfic Reincarnated as Ran Mouri's Younger Sister, based on the Japanese anime Detective Conan. In this story, Mouri Kogoro temporarily takes in an “adopted daughter,” Mouri Yu, after being asked for help by a certain scientist. She is the biological child of Shinichi Kudo and Ran Mouri from the future, a “son” who is now a daughter. The scientist was developing an antidote to break Conan's mysterious seal, which had “turned him into a child,” when the future's mysterious organization “K” discovered the research. To protect Mouri Yu, the scientist activated “time reversal,” or a “time machine,” and traveled back to Shinichi Kudo's high school days. There, the scientist met Mouri Kogoro and explained that “she” existed. To keep Xiaoyu from attracting K's attention, the scientist adopted her under their own name. (In reality, she's his biological granddaughter.) Ran and the others don't like her, because her very existence is a “tinderbox.”
