Arrow's Kiss

Synopsis of Arrow's Kiss: Xie Lin, the Northern Di war god, breaches Yanmen Pass and personally shoots dead its defending general, Shen Hanzhou. The general's daughter, Shen Zhiwei, hides her gravely wounded enemy, only to receive half a bloodstained military tally from him in the darkness of a cellar. Three years later, she is the Crown Princess, while he is a prisoner. Crown Prince Xiao Che smiles as he hands her a poisoned arrow: "Kill him to prove your loyalty." Shen Zhiwei pulls the trigger of her crossbow, and the arrow pierces Xie Lin's chest. As he lies dying, he clutches the malt candy she once saved for him and rasps, "This arrow... isn't poisoned?" On her wedding night, she sits on the bridal bed, holding his corpse. The poisoned arrow called "Beauty's Ashes" slips from her sleeve: it is the freedom she prepared for herself by assassinating the Crown Prince. Xiao Che crushes the arrow and sneers, "You'll always be a bird in my cage." A bloody kiss in the dungeon, crumbs of candy on the battlefield, an unpoisoned arrow... In the end, every tender feeling becomes a sacrifice to power.
