Zheng Leyu, a peasant girl, was sold into a prince's house in Kyoto as a child bride because her father owed gambling debts. She married Shen Yu, the legitimate son of the prince's house who appeared to be gentle but was actually cruel and cunning. In order to compete for the position of Hou, Shen Yu designed to frame Zheng Leyu (such as falsely accusing her of stealing and drugging her to make her sick), making her the target of public criticism in the Hou family. In a predicament, Zheng Leyu discovered that the Shen family was cursed by an ancestral witchcraft (requiring the blood sacrifice of a child bride to continue the power). With perseverance and wisdom, she broke the curse (collected materials to undo the curse and revealed the truth about the witchcraft), and gradually exposed Shen Yu's hypocrisy (such as his murder of his concubine and collusion with outsiders). She finally counterattacked and became the controller of the Hou Mansion, demoted Shen Yu to a prisoner, and completely overturned his "perfect son" persona.
