Synopsis

Set against the turmoil of the Republican era, this is a tragic love story.

After the young Zhou Yao loses all news of the man she loves, she sets out to find him. Along the way, she follows Zhang Han and unexpectedly investigates the collapse of the Hubei Jingjiang embankment. During an impeachment case at the Inspectorate, she glimpses how the worldly powers of the Republic oppress the people.

Through the eyes of ordinary people, the story portrays the true history of the Republic, showing from an unvarnished perspective how idealism was crushed and reborn beneath the reactionaries' worldly power.

The love stories of several couples, and the tragic ending, also reflect the sorrow of the times and the suffering of ordinary people under the White Terror of the Republic.

Looking for Stories That Seem Calm and Ordinary but Hurt Your Heart With Every Line

Nothing over-the-top, and no melodramatic domineering romance plots. I just want a calm, ordinary love story that is absolutely heartbreaking!!! Something like love that can never be fulfilled, or an ending where the leads don't end up together. A happy ending is fine too.
