The Little Cook at the Frontier Pass

[Mutually Faithful Couple + Everyone’s Favorite + Shopping Spree + Food Story] Yun Nuannuan is the daughter of Yun, a first-rank official and prime minister of the Great Ming Dynasty. Because of a friendship between their parents’ generation, she is promised in marriage to He Yimo, a poor scholar. But who could have guessed that after the scholar passes the imperial examinations and becomes the top third-place graduate, a princess would take a liking to him?

He Yimo promptly writes to break off the engagement. Yun Nuannuan is so furious she dies, and modern-day Yun Nuannuan transmigrates into her place. She cheerfully takes the compensation money from the royal family and heads to the desolate frontier, where she starts cooking meals in a giant pot.

She thought she’d spend this life with nothing but sandstorms for company. But then Yun Nuannuan meets Xie Kaixuan, a young general whose heart and thoughts are wholly devoted to guarding the frontier, and her days become more prosperous than ever.

Yun Nuannuan runs a little shop, and her steaming beef noodles, fried dough snacks, milk tea, and bread soup are so good that her cumin-scented roasted lamb ribs leave everyone at the frontier raving.

In a nutshell: Yun Nuannuan’s story of striving to stand on her own after her engagement is broken.
