This is a freeform story written after reading The Long Journey to the Angry Planet, for anyone who still wants more interstellar road-trip fiction. It doesn’t feel much like fanfiction. It’s more like I borrowed some of the book’s framework, but I don’t have the author’s incredible talent, so this novel’s plot is simpler.
This is a short story. Just how short? Maybe only ten chapters (scratches head...)
This novel is full of that strong translated-text feel (translated from a foreign language into Chinese).
This novel is full of the baffling “artificial intelligence tech” vibe.
This novel features all kinds of nonhuman creatures (it is a space story, after all).
No romance, so even if you wanted to ship anyone, you probably couldn’t.
The morality is passable, I guess...
All right, back to the synopsis:
An Ya buys a set of “nearly defunct interstellar route coordinates” on the black market. The seller claims they lead straight to the lucrative planet Aolong.
To split the costs, she recruits Ruigena, Xiao Jiu, and Zagulage. Each of the four has a secret as they set off.
In a life among the stars overshadowed by the Federation, with natural interstellar routes on the verge of collapse, the old cargo ship Silent Mountain becomes the last ark for four outcasts on the edges of the universe.
