Mo Yun: Heir to Lu Ban

A bloodstained fragment of a scroll sets the stage for the massacre of the Lu Ban descendants in Mojing. The tombs of the Moyun clan disturbed the dragon vein, but who spread the slander that led to the clan's extermination? The Palace Master of Lingyun Palace arrived just in time to save the last three surviving members of the Moyun clan.

Aside from the Pavilion Master, the most mysterious figure in the Dingyun Pavilion is the Palace Master of Lingyun, foremost among its Four Great Palaces. The Four Upper Palaces each have their own specialty: Lingyun Palace commands the political landscape and lays plans to rule the world; Bihai Palace uses sinister, life-or-death methods of poison and sorcery; Qingliu Palace boasts master healers who can trade across the four seas; and Shenji Palace excels at ingenious mechanisms and deadly weapons. The Five Lower Palaces teach the conventional fields of history, literature, and scholarship. Only those who pass the Five Lower Palaces' tests may enter the Four Upper Palaces to train. After four years of arduous cultivation, their swords are finally drawn, and Mojing is thrown into turmoil.

The story officially begins with a shocking secret-chamber case involving the Three Offices. Within a few months of solving it, they overthrow a prince, take bloody revenge on their enemies, and restore their status as members of the imperial clan. Yet they increasingly suspect the massacre was far more complicated than it seemed. When they finally gather the four “keys” left behind by the old master of the Moyun clan and open the forbidden door, they read his diary and learn that the whole world is vying for a divine weapon, and its creator was their father. The truth behind the bloody storm that engulfed the descendants of Lu Ban slowly comes to light. What you see and hear, it turns out, is no more than the answers others have given you. Guided by steadfast trust and a sense of honor, the three siblings stay true to themselves as they seek to fulfill their father's final wish and uncover the real truth behind the massacre.
