The river of fate swept two stars from the modern world into the final twilight of the Byzantine Empire. Chen Moting becomes Prince Alexios II, clad in a heavy purple robe and standing at the edge of the empire's collapse. His eyes take in the turmoil at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, yet his heart holds just one purpose: finding his missing younger sister, Yu Che.
Far away, in a monastery cell of stone, the girl who was once Chen Yu Che has become Irene Komnene, burdened with “original sin.” Her lonely childhood is steeped in the tears of penance and the chill of stone walls, but her brother's smile is the only light in her darkness. Like a thorn that stubbornly grows through a crack in the stone, she waits amid the silence for the faint glimmer of their reunion.
On one side lies a palace of gold and splendor, beset by danger: Norman knights, Turkish scimitars, Rus spears, and endless political intrigue. On the other stands a monastery filled with hymns yet seething with undercurrents: the chains of faith, the curse of her birth, and a silent struggle sustained by unyielding hope. Armed with modern souls, they struggle on ancient soil. One tries to turn the tide and save an empire; the other seeks only to escape the cage of fate.
This is a mournful elegy to the historical Komnenian dynasty, and an epic tale of a brother and sister's love spanning a thousand years. As the wheel of history rolls mercilessly onward, can their bond become the last light shining on the eve of destruction?
Personal opinion, don't comment if you don't like it: I am more interested in the history of the West (especially Rome), but I don't know much about it. After reading the author's book, I checked online and found that the book has some historical background. 🤔 The above is not the point, the point is the paragraphs of the novel. This... I hope the author can divide it into shorter paragraphs, such as words, which can be directly made into one paragraph. I personally feel that this long paragraph affects reading and makes it a little uncomfortable to read. I hope it can be improved💕 (Purely my personal opinion, if you think what I said is wrong, then you are right🍉)
Historically, the Byzantine Empire also made important contributions to human civilization.
It's beautiful, but it feels a bit too depressing (personally)
It looks good. I want to ask if he knows orthopedics. There are not many who write about Eastern Rome, so I hope they won't stop updating.
It's very well written. You must not be a eunuch.
Will the heroine be the princess in history? 😘😘 They are all big chapters of 5k words 😘😘
Anyway, I think it's very beautiful
