I Restored a Thousand-Year-Old Lost Art, and the Whole Internet Begged Me to Teach a Class

“Who even listens to opera these days? Tear down the museum and build a mall already!”

Yu Fengmian is the last heir to a century-old opera theater on the verge of extinction. She’s so broke she can’t even pay the water and electricity bills. Just as a developer’s bulldozer bears down on the theater, she unexpectedly binds herself to the Opera Heritage Restoration System.

Restore an artifact, and you’ll unlock a lost performing art!

She flicked her water sleeves, and the livestream comments exploded:

“Holy crap! Did she just write with a brush in midair using the feather technique?!”

“Help! That scene from Farewell My Concubine uses the lost ‘Seven Steps to the Soul-Severing Tune’!”

As online tips surged, she turned and opened the museum’s secret chamber:

An old, yellowed opera script recorded the secret of how “opera can communicate with the divine.”

Sing a song correctly, and even a torrential storm could stop at once. Perform a scene incorrectly, and the lights would go out for ten miles around…

When the business world declared, “Opera is dead,”

Yu Fengmian fired back with blazing passion: “Who said that? Any opera robe in my museum is worth more than your top-tier star!”

The next day, #PersimmonPekingOperaTheaterLivestream# trended nationwide, and the state media stepped in: “Please protect this guardian of intangible cultural heritage.”
