Journey to the West, the Live-in Son-in-Law: My Father-in-Law's Pilgrimage KPIs

A socially anxious live-in son-in-law is three days into his marriage when a copy of “The Reincarnation Memoir of Jin Chanzi” on his father-in-law’s bedside table scares him witless. Tang Shoucheng, former assistant magistrate of Chang'an County, is actually Tang Sanzang’s ninety-ninth reincarnation! The old man slaps the table and lays down a KPI: “You have three years to assemble the pilgrimage team, or you’ll be thrown back into the cycle of reincarnation!” From then on, a transparent panel appears between Chen Xuan’s brows. He sees Second Senior Brother, his father-in-law’s disciple, with “Return to Gao Village · Conflict +200” floating above his head; his mother-in-law gripping a rolling pin with “Neglected · Resentment +150”; even his own wife pokes him in the arm: “Are you going to say something or not?” Sweating with anxiety, the socially awkward son-in-law studies the merit exchange chart. Comforting people can earn him “Lotus-Tongued Eloquence,” while breaking up fights unlocks “Causal Reverse Deduction.” Is this really being a son-in-law? He’s clearly the family mediator hired to put together his father-in-law’s Western Heaven team!
