A Country Boy Makes a Living Fishing the Tides in the 1990s

Lin Aqiang, a young man from a coastal fishing village, dropped out of school when his father became seriously ill and supported his family by gathering seafood along the shore. Starting with picking up snails and catching crabs, he gradually learned to read the tides and understand the habits of marine life. He harvested swimming crabs, groupers, sea cucumbers, abalone, and more. As his income grew, he bought waterproof clothing, a small boat, fishing rafts, and other equipment. He improved his family’s home, paid for his father’s treatment, and put his younger sister through school. Through e-commerce, aquaculture, and the restaurant business, he built a seafood empire and became a leader in helping his fishing village grow prosperous.
