The Fierce Northwest Bride: Sleepless Nights

On the blood-soaked northwestern frontier, the bold and outspoken Bai Sanniang suffers a devastating tragedy. Warlord Yan Yihu massacres her husband, Zhao Tieshan, and skins him in public to seize the water source at their stronghold. Having witnessed the horror, Bai Sanniang loses every trace of warmth in her heart, leaving only a searing, bone-deep hatred. Clutching her dead husband’s notched saber, she vows to make blood answer for blood.

From then on, the name “Blood Rakshasa” resounds across the Northwest. Bai Sanniang gathers outlaws in the mountains, recruiting survivors with ruthless cunning. She establishes the ironclad rule of “three things we never rob” to protect the poor and weak, becoming a twisted shield amid the chaos of war. Yet every night, nightmares of blood close around the bandit chief’s throat. The sight of her husband’s brutal death and the feel of blood on her blade torment her again and again, keeping her awake. Only strong liquor and a sharpened blade keep her company.

Fate turns when they raid Yan Yihu’s military supply train. Bai Sanniang unexpectedly discovers an old photograph revealing that Chen Ergou, once her husband’s close friend, is now Yan Yihu’s adjutant. The betrayal of someone dear to them was the root of the disaster. At the same time, the mysterious, down-and-out “Old Zhou” joins their stronghold, bringing the spark of revolution from the south. His extraordinary eloquence and the fire in his eyes quietly stir Bai Sanniang’s deadened heart, setting the stronghold’s old rules against new ideas in a fierce clash.

When Yan Yihu’s army bears down on them, the final reckoning and the stronghold’s survival are at stake all at once. In the blaze, new and old hatreds surge. Her brothers in arms fight through their blood, and the fortress is on the verge of falling. “Old Zhou,” gravely wounded, shoves into her hands a map to an arsenal vital to the Northwest and roars, “Destroy it! So there won’t be another Zhao Tieshan, another Bai Sanniang!” Standing atop the burning ruins, Bai Sanniang looks toward the enemy troops rampaging before her and the faces of those following behind. Her blade once drank blood for revenge alone, but now it bears a far heavier mission…
