The Binary Empire

[War] [Farming] [Alternate History] [Titles] [Middle Ages] [No System]

At first, Eli thought his life would be spent inheriting his father’s knighthood and serving Baron Kut. If he was lucky, he might distinguish himself in battle and earn a reward from the king or another great noble, rising to the rank of baron, just like his grandfather.

But then came the war. The vile and foolish Rus barbarians invaded the borderlands, and both his father and uncle died in the fighting. As the only heir of House Christian, he inherited his uncle’s barony.

That war drew Eli into a vortex of conspiracy. The conflict and the schemes surrounding it gradually brought Eli Christian of House Stag to the attention of the nobility.

When Eli took the Pope’s crown and crowned himself, not one person present objected. The world considered it only right. Only the Pope voiced his displeasure at the new emperor and the newly established head of the church, but to no avail.

He is the co-emperor of the secular realm, the empress’s husband, king of the Kingdom of Frank, prince of the Kingdom of Aksay, grand duke of the Duchy of Tuscany, Count of Oak, Baron of Pollard, conqueror of the Rus, and protector of Celosi...

(The story focuses on war and development, with less political intrigue. The protagonist has two wives, and I’ll keep adding to his titles.)
