A Dimly Lit Chronicle

Lin Wei, a top modern-day forensic examiner, transmigrates by accident and becomes the daughter of a disgraced official being exiled in ancient times.

> With her forensic expertise, she clears her name in the place of exile and saves a prince on the brink of death, rising from a prisoner to a special envoy of the Crown Prince.

> The court is a treacherous place. She examines corpses to solve strange cases and exposes the mastermind behind the Empress Dowager’s poisoning. When the border is under threat, she leads troops into battle as a woman, uses modern medicine to fight an epidemic, and applies forensic methods to uncover the enemy’s schemes.

> When the Crown Prince ascends the throne and wants to make her empress, she defies his decree before the court. “I don’t want a phoenix crown and bridal robes. I want schools for women, households registered in women’s names, and official posts for women, so that women everywhere can take their place in the court!”

> The new emperor is furious, and the nobility is in an uproar. She resolutely resigns and establishes the Institute of Practical Studies among the common people.

> Ten years later, with the dynasty plunged into crisis, the new emperor visits the institute in person. Above its entrance hangs a plaque:

> “Women who make their way in the world should shine in the heavens like the sun and moon.”
