The wind was still blowing and she was still walking.
She was a daughter of Dongting who survived the war, overcame monstrous floods, endured years of famine, and managed to support her entire family. She couldn't read and couldn't speak grand truths. She only relied on her tenacity to build a stable world for her children.
As time goes by, she goes to the community park every day to stretch her waist and legs, but her back is still straight; in her free time, she sits on the balcony wicker chair and peels oranges, giving one piece to her granddaughter, one to her grandson, and another to me.
"Daughter of Dongting" records the long journey of a woman by Dongting Lake: from the swaying lake water to the stable balcony, the ups and downs of half a lifetime, hiding the simplest wisdom of life.
This is her true past, and I wrote it into a book just to remember it for her.
Thank you for opening this book. My mother is still moving forward, and I hope you will accompany her through this period of life.
