Grand Tutor, I Was Wrong

Jiang Qingchen, an impoverished scholar from a collateral branch of the Jiang family in Jiangnan, accidentally enters a forbidden area of the imperial palace and becomes the tutor of Crown Prince Fu Jingchen, the prince who terrifies the court. Doted on by the emperor and empress, the heir to the throne is known as “the Capital’s Biggest Troublemaker.” In three years, he has driven away seven tutors and turned the academy upside down. Faced with the prince’s carefully planned “welcome,” Jiang Qingchen slips a ruler from his sleeve and says with a smile, “Your Highness, would you like to find out how it feels?”

Fu Jingchen initially intends to drive this frail Jiangnan gentleman out of the palace too, but their repeated clashes soon leave him flustered. He deliberately messes up his tutor’s hair ribbon, watching the man’s ears turn red as he untangles the ribbon caught around his fingers. He deliberately argues over his assignments, just to see the other man furrow his brows in earnest. When Jiang Qingchen is marking his essays, the tip of the brush accidentally grazes his hand. Fu Jingchen, acting on an impulse, presses his lips to the trace of blood, only then realizing that his heart has quietly taken root amid their playful bickering. As the copper bells beneath the academy’s eaves shatter the moonlight, the story of a young emperor and an impoverished tutor becomes the sweetest of love poems, written through their chaotic daily life.
