The Myriad Realms Book of Lingxiao

The Book of Myriad Realms tells the story of Xuanji, the Three Realms' only “unfated one.” Her left hand can heal all things, yet causes living beings to die suddenly; her right hand reveals the truth of death at a touch. Reborn as the ancient calamity's arbiter, she hastens the world's collapse every time she uses her powers. Yan Mingzhao, a causal-law weapon sealed away, walks the world as the disgraced young master of a merchant alliance. His emotional fluctuations can rewrite reality, and every bead on the abacus at his waist is a civilization that has been erased.

The two meet in the mortal world. Xuanji's healing ability draws the attention of Heaven's Will, while Yan Mingzhao is manipulating futures based on the “possibility of war” when ripples from her power trigger a causal anomaly. When Xuanji witnesses the injustice at an “emotional energy” factory, where workers trade their memories for the chance to survive, she accidentally sets off a strange play of light and shadow while Yan Mingzhao investigates the clues, exposing her identity as the unfated one.

In the story, Lu Chenzhou, reborn as the Sage of Agriculture, uses ears of rice to predict a crisis in which plants will turn to metal. Su Jiuli, princess of the mechanical demon clan, swallows metal to heal her wounds and accidentally activates a key to civilization. Xie Guihong, the administrator of reincarnation, deliberately lets evil people be reborn to challenge Heaven's Will. As a rain of nanobots from the higher-dimensional civilization known as the “Harvesters” descends, Xuanji discovers that Heaven's Will is a trap she created in her previous life, while Yan Mingzhao's abacus beads are actually civilization storage devices. In the end, the two overturn the rules of the great calamity and rebuild order in the Three Realms through love. Yan Mingzhao becomes a star to protect the world, Xuanji abolishes the merit system, and the myriad realms are reborn under a law of equality.
