Iris in the Smoke of War tells the story of Amir's family, who suffer a tragedy amid war when his daughter Zahra goes missing. While searching for her, he meets Lin Yue, a Chinese doctor with Doctors Without Borders. Using, respectively, a mechanical engineer's coding system and a battlefield doctor's instinct for emergency care, the two gradually uncover the dark dealings of an international arms dealer. They realize that their search for Zahra is closely tied to exposing the dealer's crimes. At its heart, this is a story about seeking the truth amid war, holding on to one's humanity, and finding redemption.
