Reborn in the seventeenth year of Chongzhen? No. This time, I’m going to be the boss!
Zhu Youjian breathed his last beneath the crooked old tree on Coal Hill. When he opened his eyes, he had returned to the thirteenth year of Chongzhen, with only four years left until the Ming dynasty’s fall.
The treasury was so empty mice ran through it. The army was rotten to the core. The Jurchen iron cavalry had breached Shanhai Pass, and Li Zicheng’s million-strong rebel forces were closing in on the capital...
Just as despair overtook him, a strange glowing screen crashed into his mind:
[Boss Recruitment System] activated! You can recruit 21st-century "office workers" across time to save the fate of the realm!
But the System’s terms were so outrageous the emperor wanted to smash his throne:
Modern employees work only eight hours a day, and their lunch breaks are non-negotiable!
Refuse overtime? Pay extra! The System automatically deducts triple wages!
Try to intimidate them with imperial authority? Warning! You have violated the "workplace bullying" clause!
And so, the Forbidden City underwent a dramatic transformation:
A retired soldier explains the "assembly line for muskets" with a PowerPoint presentation in the Qianqing Palace, while the boss on the throne is forced to take notes.
An agricultural science PhD points at sweet potato seedlings and bets Chongzhen on his KPIs: "If I fail to get these planted, I’ll quit!"
An auditing expert exposes the Ministry of Revenue’s parasites and rages in front of the emperor: "Your Majesty, your treasury deficit is worse than a P2P lending platform going bust!"
Clutching his completely empty purse, Chongzhen throws his head back and cries:
"Can I pawn my dragon robes to pay for overtime?!"
This is a desperate gamble in which an emperor and his workers join forces to fight against history.
When the ironclad rules of a nine-to-six workday collide with the death knell of a dynasty on the brink, can they pull the Ming back from the edge within four years?
It's great, the author, keep writing
Hydra is endless
Although I have only read a few chapters, the plot is very compact and exciting. I hope the author will keep it up and not go too far 🥺
Not bad, very exciting
