In the turbulent years of the late Qing Dynasty, 18-year-old Wang Fengrong lived in a scholarly family in Suzhou. He was deeply inspired by the Reform Movement of 1898 and determined to revitalize China through modern education. Faced with his father's traditional ideas and the failure of the reform, he resolutely went to Shanghai to study engineering. In Shanghai, he met like-minded Li Meiying, and the two fell in love because of their common ideals. However, the outbreak of the Boxer Rebellion allowed him to witness the conflict between nationalism and external forces, and he began to question the path of change. With the advent of the Revolution of 1911, Wang Fengrong joined the revolution and experienced the passion and chaos of the fall of the Qing Dynasty. In the end, he and Li Meiying joined hands to welcome the dawn of the Republic of China, but they also realized that the road to change had a long way to go. "Glory and Dream" shows the intertwining of personal ideals and national destiny in the late Qing Dynasty through Wang Fengrong's struggle and growth, and depicts a historical picture of the collision between tradition and modernity.
