“You can see ghosts?” He stood in the rain at night, his shadow splitting in two. “Funny, so can I.”
Yun Jian Yue was born with Yin-Yang Eyes. She can see wandering spirits and ghosts, but not the warmth of the human world. Raised in an orphanage, she is used to being alone, until one rainy night. She holds an umbrella over a little girl who has lost her way, only to attract an evil spirit. The mysterious man Lu Chen appears out of nowhere, uses a copper coin to send the spirit on its way, then turns around. She clearly sees his shadow split into two beneath the streetlight.
“Stay away from me,” he warns coldly. “You have something they want.”
When the children at the orphanage begin sleepwalking and bloody words appear on the walls, Lu Chen has no choice but to show up again. He is a top hunter for the Special Affairs Bureau, while she is an “Yin-Eyed One” unlike anyone he has ever encountered. Forced to team up to investigate paranormal cases, she discovers that every case points to an ancient organization called Guixu, and that she is the “vessel” they have been seeking for a thousand years.
**“If someone has to be sacrificed,” Lu Chen says, gripping her hand amid the flames, “I'll choose myself.”**
From haunted houses to ancient tombs, from midnight subways to worlds inside mirrors, he teaches her to control her Yin-Yang Eyes, while she forces him to face his true feelings. When Lu Chen seals the evil god and vanishes in a scattering of starlight, Yun Jian Yue digs out a tear of her own. Locked inside it is the last wisp of his soul.
**A year later, the “Jian Yue Paranormal Consulting Room” opens for business.**
**When the first client arrives, the shadow behind her suddenly moves on its own.**
The deepest attachment in this world is the living refusing to let go, and the dead daring not to forget their love.
