Kanzaki Ao of Prince of Tennis

Name: Kanzaki Aoi

Grade: Second year, Rikkai University Affiliated Junior High School

Appearance: Of average height, with a lean, powerful build and a focused, sharp gaze. His short black hair is slightly tousled, and he often wears a thoughtful expression. In Rikkai’s regular team uniform, he has a calm, steady presence.

Tennis Style: “Tactical Mirror.” His core ability is rapid observation and analysis, allowing him to identify an opponent’s technical strengths, habits, weaknesses, and even emotional shifts in a very short time. At first, this lets him predict the ball’s trajectory and landing point with precision, as well as imitate an opponent’s signature moves, though his versions are usually less powerful than the originals. As he develops, this gradually evolves into “Pre-Constructed Tactics”: he can instantly simulate multiple shot options and the opponent’s possible responses in his mind, then choose the best way to return the ball or set up a play, much like playing speed chess. His basic abilities in strength, speed, and stamina steadily reach elite levels through Rikkai’s intense training, though he is not an explosive player. He has formidable mental strength and excels at psychological games.

Personality: Calm and reserved on the surface, with keen observational skills. He doesn’t say much, but when he does, he gets straight to the point. He has a fierce competitive streak and a deep thirst for knowledge, with an almost obsessive passion for studying tennis tactics. He deeply respects teammates he recognizes, especially Rikkai’s Big Three, but is also willing to offer his own tactical suggestions.
