Jiang Bin, adopted son of the Zhengde Emperor and the most favored official in the Ming Dynasty. He commanded the four garrisons of Xuanfu, Datong, Liaodong, and Yansui, and oversaw the capital's military forces, including the Outer Four Garrisons and the Twelve Regiments. He fought in all directions for the Zhengde Emperor, defeating the northern Mongols, the Turpan forces in the northwest, Japanese pirates in the southwest, Portuguese colonizers, the Jurchens in Liaodong, the native chieftains of the southwest, and the forces of Burma and Jiaozhi.
He solved the problems of land consolidation, the devaluation of paper currency, civil officials monopolizing power, and the corruption of the army, one by one. He rose through the titles of Earl of Pinglu, Marquis of Pinglu, and Duke of Chengguo, eventually becoming a non-imperial prince guarding the northwest.
