(A whimsical story about a randomly transmigrated unlucky soul and a world-weary immortal old monster.)
Zhang Nanfeng, an unlucky but optimistic modern office drone, is suddenly dumped into a strange ancient world at random.
There’s no System, no quests, and she doesn’t even know which dynasty she’s in.
Her only survival skill is knowing an immortal NPC.
Gao Junhuai is a sharp-tongued old monster who has lived for over a thousand years. He has witnessed dynasties rise and fall, and has long since lost interest in everything under the sun.
Then one day, he finds a strangely dressed woman in his courtyard, talking a mile a minute. The first thing out of her mouth is, “Hey, a fellow countryman! Fancy seeing you again. Go get me some clothes, copy down a couple of dishes for me, and then give me some money.”
At first, he thinks she’s just another passerby. But little by little, he realizes that her presence has given his long life something it has never had before: anticipation.
“You’ve lived this long. Don’t you have any advice for life?”
“I do.” He sneers. “Drink more hot water.”
The most eye-catching design of the work is that it maximizes the dramatic tension created by the collision of randomness and inevitability. The protagonist travels through scenes such as bizarre alien worlds, war-torn ancient battlefields, and crisis-ridden future cities. Every time he travels through, there are new challenges and unknowns. This uncertainty keeps the story fresh and exciting. However, amid the endless variables, the ever-present NPC has become the anchor point throughout all the worlds. He/she is either an indifferent guide, a partner who fights side by side, or an opponent with contradictory positions. His/her identity and personality change in different worlds, but they always become entangled with the protagonist in some way. This setting breaks the shackles of the single-line narrative of traditional time-travel novels. In seemingly accidental encounters, it lays the foundation for the fate of fate, allowing readers to constantly guess during the reading process what kind of secret connection exists between the NPC and the protagonist across time and space.
I first came across this subject on Douyin. I thought it was very novel and interesting, so I wanted to find a similar longer novel, because the short stories were not enough, but I couldn't find it. Later, I saw a comment on a video of the same type saying that it was available on Tomato, so I searched for the author's book. The writing is very beautiful [Admiration] I really hope that Da Da can stick to it. This is just a small wish of mine. It is not forced. [Blow kiss]
It is very suitable for boys to watch female videos and keep updating them. The writing style is okay. Maybe because no one is watching, the results are not very good. Zuo Zuo has stopped updating, but I still hope that Sister Zuozuo will continue to write. The subject matter is very good and the completion of the book will attract people. Come on!!
It's so interesting. It's the first time I've seen this kind of subject.
It's so beautiful, why doesn't anyone see it 🍉
Interesting, sweet, strategic
This article is very wonderfully written, the writing is smooth and beautiful, the plot is fascinating, and it makes people have endless aftertaste after reading it.
