Professor Li Qingyun of the University of Finance and Economics seems to be a broke lecturer earning just 5,000 yuan a month, but she is hiding all sorts of skills and identities.
As her habit of using spicy snack sticks as hidden weapons and her ability to save powerful men with acupuncture come to light, Yun Yanzhou, the investigator who always wears a moon-white shirt, keeps handing her honey to counteract the poisons whenever she gets into trouble. The trust password her mother left behind conceals an ancient martial arts manual; buried in a hollow tree at the orphanage is a medicine chest that can cure a hundred poisons; and the “Scythe Squad” hunting her seems to be connected to secrets from the Yun family’s past ten years ago.
When the face beneath the golden mask reveals a scar, and the mark of the Gold-Devouring Snake appears in an old photo of her mother’s, Li Qingyun can calculate every financial model, but she cannot work out one thing: in this high-stakes gamble over her origins, who is the one pulling the strings?
